Innovation in Teaching" Mini-grants
What do math, science, agriculture, California history and healthy eating have in common? All have been subjects of projects funded by the California table grape industry's "Innovation in Teaching" mini-grants. For the sixteenth year, California's fresh grape farmers are again offering ten mini-grants to teachers with innovative teaching ideas.
Applications for the $500 grants are being accepted at school districts and educational foundation offices in table grape-growing areas of California until December 24. Each district can apply for up to two grants to fund an innovative teaching unit or classroom project in any subject. Districts must mail their choices to the California Table Grape Commission by January 13.
Since 1993, the "Innovation in Teaching" mini-grants have provided over $75,000 to more than 150 classrooms in the Coachella and San Joaquin Valley farm communities.
